Exciting times in Rise of Tribes land in February. Chinese New Year has begun! But first - a box arrived from our manufacturing team, and while it was full of invaders, volcanoes and sabertooth tigers, we decided to open it anyway!

Thousands of years ago, a nomadic people wandered about, with really only two things to do - watch carefully for wild animals, and wait for the glaciers to melt and reveal their Kickstarter games. Not much has changed, really.
Here's an update to our production journey, which is longer than anticipated, but nevertheless full of victory points, and exciting moments. In January, we rolled double moons and pulled our first event - the tray wasn't able to hold everything we stuffed into the box. We explored options, and ended up with - a slightly bigger box! Yay? Blood Rage - watch out!
With Chinese New Year coming up, all our manufacturing teams overseas have been prepping as much as possible before then, and will manage to get a sample before they break for celebrations. This is our next step, looking at this sample, sharing in February and greenlighting full production.
When production resumes in March, you can see the various times to make each part. One of our biggest realizations came on custom wooden pieces - turns out thousands and thousands of them take time to make and paint. And then sort for bad ones, so that every game comes with the best components. Boxes will complete last. Of course, games can't get on the boat until everything is in there.
We know that this can be frustrating, and that plans may have been made on our former projected timeline, and for that we are sorry. We too want this game right now, but we also know that every decision and every checkpoint has made this game the best it can be. Rise of Tribes IS coming in 2018, delivered high quality to match it's high anticipation and to backers first, as soon as we have it. After that, we will celebrate it at Gen Con, Essen and all the shows in the land, and tales will be told of the bigger, better-than-ever-before mammoth game on your tabletop this summer.
We'll be in touch as soon as we have the production sample in a couple weeks. After that, we'll do regular updates to keep track of this schedule, and post links to videos and anything else cool we can share.

Rise of Tribes - Cheers to 2018!

Just wanted to give a quick hello. Happy holidays to all - here's a final update in 2017! We're in production, so there's tons to share. There wasn't enough art in my November post, so I'll correct that!
Rise of Tribes - Memory Lane I remember when Brad and I started working on this game - it was December of 2015! He pitched it, we played and I loved it immediately.
2015 Rise of Tribes world - the dice were pips then numbers. Villages, leaders - didn't exist, there were no events - the mammoth and volcano were just a gleam in our eyes. We've have worked so hard since with everyone at Breaking Games. Right now, it's in the hands of our manufacturing team, and Kat and Shari are making magic happen every week!
I know Brad probably didn't imagine it would take until 2018 to get his game a reality, but it's going to be a shining moment to deliver this - we're taking such care to make it the best it can be. And we're thankful for this opportunity from this community!
Box Art and 100% into Production! After the rulebook was polished up (thanks to all for the notes!) we finished the box to shine upon the seas of shelves in the world. Here are the fronts and backs. We focused the standard back on the tons of gameplay and the deluxe back on awesome component upgrades. I hope you like them!
What else? We made cool die cuts, we made tray diagrams. We about to start etching dice. We got samples of sabertooths and painted them just the right color, thickened the tail to be sturdier. We increased arrowhead length, and more. These deluxe edition production villages are thicker than ever!
Here's a peek at the tray making process. More to come on this as we work with the production teams. You'll notice we're making room for the deluxe box INSIDE the standard box. (what??!). Yes.
Oh and we've even been working with Sergio on something else too. Look at this awesome new piece of art he did!
--- What does it all mean? We're busy, busy, busy - trying to score 15 points, which is what all tribes really want. We're talking to partners internationally about more distribution for the game. We're still working on translations. We're developing more of the world of Rise of Tribes. (So many cool ideas to come!) But first, let's get this game done and to your tabletop!
Timeline I want to be upfront and be the first to tell you that we've spent a wee bit more time in the pre-production phase than I originally hoped (Rise of Tribes is worth it!)
But guess what - we're now making the game! I mention the pre-production attention to detail because our original projection of March delivery may be tough As Brad reminds me, I don't know definitively that it WON'T make it by then, and all of us will keep working very hard here, hopeful for as fast as possible. I promise to keep you updated along the way, as we finish this great game.

Spieltage bound, journey continues for Rise of Tribes!

A busy month in October, as Breaking Games released 2 games in retail - Asking for Trobils (2nd Ed) and Sparkle*Kitty - both selling out fast! And much has been done on Rise of Tribes as well! In this update we'll share info on the rulebook, our plans at Spiel, and info about Backerkit locking down and production about to begin.
Time Flies When You're Making Games Here's a look at our final special animal tile decided upon by backer vote - featuring the giant condor on one of the mountain tiles in the game! Thanks again for making this special unlocked goal possible.
Rulebook Done!* After much editing, we have what we believe is near final rulebook. I say near final because we're still counting on great catches and input from YOU! and much thanks in advance. The good news is that the rules have worked in many many blind tests. After we polish the layout on the remaining few pages, I will share an English PDF in early November. We have begun translating the cards and event tiles in 9 languages, and will do the same for the rule pages.
Breaking Games in Germany and Australia! We are attending both Spieltage 2017 in Essen and PAX Australia 2017 - at the same time! We are very excited to bring our games outside the United States!
Rise of Tribes will likely not be with the team at PAX Aus, although if you're there be sure to say hello and see all our latest and greatest titles - Booth TT200 in PAX AUS Tabletop. Tell our staff you're a backer and that Peter said you deserve some swag! Next year - Rise of Tribes!
A Rise of Tribes early prototype copy will be with the team at Essen. Come by and say hello at Essen - Hall 7 - booth 7D 102. We won't be playing the game until the evenings at hotels/cafes and such, but happy to show it upon request. Backerkit Pledge Lockdown! We're close to 96% surveys in. The time has come to lockdown all post Kickstarter pledges, so we can begin to plan the release. As promised, we wanted to give you advance warning and notice about the lockdown and charging of funds. We will look to lockdown on November 20, 2017. This doesn't mean your addresses are locked, changes can still be made for delivery when we get closer to shipping.
We're about to enter production, and I know many would like to know our timeline! We will give more detail on this in coming updates as well as open back up discussion of game leader powers, play tests, tournament and solo rules exploration, etc. Happy to share more about the game until it's on your tabletop!
